Elaine Still-Hubbard grew up in Atlanta, Georgia. At age 9 she moved to Decatur, Georgia where she graduated from Southwest Dekalb High School. She worked for many years in Atlanta with the Atlanta Police Department as a keypunch operator and in other office positions in downtown Atlanta. After her husband served in the Army, they moved to Conyers, Georgia where she worked with children in Headstart as a pre-school teacher. She also worked with Sheltering Arms as a group leader in the 4- and 5-year old class. In 1991 Elaine’s husband was transferred to Brunswick, Georgia. With the beautiful surroundings and available art associations, Elaine was able to expand her talent through such artists as George Williams, Jean Szabo, and Bill Mauer. She studied under Dee Williams for 23 years before Ms. Williams passed away in 2018. Elaine has been in two shows with the Coastal Art Center (Jan. 1999 “New Work of the New Year” and Oct. 1997 “In Show”). She also has had entries in the Glynn County Fair: “On The Front Porch” (watercolor, 1st place, 1997), “Lareina and Brownie” (oil, 3rd prize, 1999), “Farmer Boy” (oil, honorable mention, 2010), “The Mentor” (watercolor, 2nd place, 2010), “Lighthouse” (oil, 1st place, 2011), “African Beauty” (watercolor, 2nd place, 2011; 1st place, 2018).
