Update on the Brunswick Library Renovation Project

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

August 2, 2018

The preconstruction planning of the Brunswick Library Renovation project has begun. Throughout the month of August 2018, library staff will be diligently preparing the library for construction that is scheduled to begin on September 4, 2018. The estimated completion time is 6 months, with a grand opening in spring 2019.

For the safety and comfort of the public, the Brunswick Library will be closed August 20, 2018 – November 30, 2018. Plumbing, HVAC, and other major work that has the potential to make the building inoperable for public use will be completed during the closure.

On December 3, 2018 the library will still be under construction, but will reopen to the public with a limited collection and hours.

During the entire renovation, the St. Simons Island Library will be fully operational. Patrons may check out, return, renew items, and pick up library holds at the St. Simons location. At any time, patrons may check the status of their library account and renew items online through www.gapines.org.

All regularly scheduled programs held at the Brunswick Library will either be at an alternate location or suspended until the renovation is complete. A listing of program dates, times, and locations will be available after August 6, 2018 at the library or on the website at www.moglibraries.org.

A temporary computer lab will be set up for public use at the Boys & Girls Club at McIntyre Court from September – November, 2018. The lab will only be available on a limited amount of weekday mornings. A complete listing of dates and times will be available after August 6, 2018 at the library or on the website.

As the Brunswick Library facility prepares to commence renovation, on August 22, 2018 the Marshes of Glynn Libraries will also commence its Turning The Page campaign. Donations to Turning The Page will allow the library to acquire needed additional educational, literary and technological assets.

Libraries Expand E-Book Offerings with GADD

GADD Logo

Starting February 6, the Marshes of Glynn Libraries will be official participants in GADD, a statewide library cooperative that makes e-content available to patrons of the member libraries. As a result, our library patrons will have greater access to e-books, e-audiobooks, and digital magazines. Patrons familiar with our RBDigital services – formerly known as OneClick Digital and Zinio for Libraries – will recognize the platform used by GADD. The biggest change will be with all the new content available starting February 6. Patrons with an existing RBDigital account do not need to do anything to gain access to the new content. Those wishing to try out our new e-books, e-audiobooks, and digital magazines can learn how to set up their accounts using their PINES card number starting here.

Note: As a result of our participation in GADD, the Marshes of Glynn Libraries will be phasing out access to e-books in Freading during February.

Open Hours to Increase at St. Simons Library in 2018

The St. Simons Island Library will be increasing open hours to the public in 2018.

The Marshes of Glynn Libraries are happy to announce that on January 2, 2018 the library will now be open at 9:30 AM Monday through Saturday.
