PINES ACCOUNTS

PINES gives our patrons access to a shared collection more than 11 million books and other materials that can be delivered to their home library free of charge. A PINES card also provides access to all the digital resources offered by our library, such as Libby by Overdrive, Hoopla, Kanopy, eRead Kids, Mango Languages, GALILEO, and much more.

You can now get a digital PINES account without coming in to the library by registering online. If you want to upgrade to a full card, you will need to visit the Brunswick or St. Simons library.

Eligibility Requirements for Free PINES Card:

  • Georgia resident;
  • Georgia property owner;
  • Attend school in Georgia; or
  • Employed full-time in Georgia.
Full Registration Requirements:

  • Completed online application;
  • Valid photo ID with current address, OR
  • Valid photo ID and proof of current address;
  • Permission and valid ID of parent or legal guardian for children 17 and under.
PINES cards are valid for two years. All fines and fees must be paid to renew a card.

CHECKOUTS

A PINES library card, virtual card, or government-issued photo ID is required to check out materials.

Checkout receipt includes the title and the due date for each item. Materials may be renewed in person, online, or by telephone. Holds may prevent items from being renewed. Items may be returned to the circulation desks or drop boxes located at our libraries or at another PINES library in Georgia.

HOLDS

  • Patrons may place a hold on any item held by the Marshes of Glynn Libraries.
  • Patrons may also place holds on eligible books, audiobooks, or DVDs held by any other PINES library in Georgia to be delivered by courier.
  • Patrons may place a hold request in person or through their online PINES account.
  • Patrons will receive a hold notification when requested items are available at their designated pickup library location.
  • Requested items will be held for seven days before the hold expires.
OVERDUE, LOST & DAMAGED ITEMS

  • Notices will be sent to patrons with overdue materials.
  • After 6 months, any overdue item that is not returned or paid for will be marked Long Overdue. (Replacement cost and processing fee will apply.)
  • Patrons may report items as Lost if they cannot locate them to return. (Replacement cost and processing fee will apply.)
  • Damage includes, but is not limited to, missing barcodes, artwork, cases, booklets, and book covers, and is assessed at replacement cost plus a processing fee.
FINES AND FEES

Fines and fees are assessed according to the schedule below:

  • Overdue books / audiobooks……$.20 / day
  • Overdue DVDs / Blu-Rays………$.50 / day
  • Maximum overdue fine………$10.00 / item
  • Long Overdue item………Replacement Cost
  • Long Overdue processing…………..$5.00
  • Lost item……………..Replacement Cost
  • Lost item processing……………..$5.00
  • Damaged item…………..Replacement cost
  • Damaged item processing…………..$5.00
  • Delinquent account………………$10.00
  • 6-month non-resident card………..$12.50

  • Photocopies / Printing………$.25 / page
Library accounts will be blocked if they accrue $10.00 or more in fines or fees. If a library account in the family group is blocked, then all accounts in the group will be blocked until all accounts are in good standing. Delinquent accounts will be referred to a collection agency after 180 days.

ONLINE ACCOUNT ACCESS:

  1. Click the My Account link in the PINES Catalog.
  2. Enter your PINES library card number or alternative username.
  3. Enter your library-assigned PIN or the password you created.
  4. Click Log in.
When you are logged into your online PINES account, you can view information about the items you have on loan and any fines or fees on your account. You can also search for items in the online catalog and place hold requests for eligible items.
