Brunswick Library Renovation: August 9 Update
More information on the Brunswick Library Renovation
Brunswick Library patrons may have noticed a big change if they checked out or renewed library materials this week; that’s because items checked out or renewed belonging to the library now have a due date of February 2019. That’s right – you get to keep your library items for 6 months with no fines. The extended checkout is due to the upcoming Brunswick Library Renovation. Patrons are welcome to check out and stock up on books before the library closes to the public on August 20. Checking out more books will be a big help to staff because it will be fewer books to move and store during the renovation.
During the entire renovation, the St. Simons Island Library will be fully operational. The default “holds” pickup location for Brunswick Library patrons during the renovation will be the St. Simons Island Library. Patrons may check out, return, and renew items at the St. Simons location. At any time, patrons may check the status of their library account and renew items online through www.gapines.org.Some of the regularly scheduled programs held at the Brunswick Library will be suspended until the renovation is complete. However, Preschool Storytime, Baby Storytime, and Lunchtime Yoga will be held offsite in the Recreation Center at Howard Coffin Park. All book clubs will meet at the St. Simons Island Library. Please visit the Marshes of Glynn Libraries website for a complete listing of programs and events at www.moglibraries.org. A temporary computer lab with printing capabilities will be set up for public use at the Boys & Girls Club at McIntyre Court on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 AM to 12 PM from September 11, 2018 – November 15, 2018. Computers are also available at the St. Simons Island Library for public use, and the library offers free Wi-Fi access for personal devices as well.
The renovation is estimated to be complete in spring 2019. For the safety and comfort of the public, the Brunswick Library will be closed August 20, 2018 – November 30, 2018. Plumbing, HVAC, and other major work that has the potential to make the building inoperable for public use will be completed during the closure. On December 3, 2018 the library will still be under construction, but will reopen to the public with a limited collection and hours.
On August 22, 2018 the Marshes of Glynn Libraries will commence a giving campaign, Turning The Page. Donations will allow the library to acquire needed additional educational, literacy, and technological assets. If you are interested in donating, please contact Geri Mullis, the Marshes of Glynn Libraries Director, at 912-279-3734 or email@example.com, for more details.
