Brunswick Library Renovation – August 15 Update
August 15, 2018
If you can believe it – even more information on the upcoming Brunswick Library Renovation
The Friends of the Brunswick Library’s book store is also getting a makeover during the Brunswick Library Renovation. While the library is closed to the public from August 20 through November 30, 2018, the Friends’ store will be closed, too. It is not known if the store will reopen when the library reopens on December 3, 2018, since areas of the library will still be under construction. At this time, please hold any book donations until the Friends are able to accommodate them. An update will be sent out at a later date, and at any time please visit the Friends’ website for more information. (www.folbwk.org)The Brunswick Library staff has been busy preparing the facility for closure on August 20, 2018. The preconstruction check-list for the upcoming Brunswick Library Renovation is a large task to accomplish. Besides moving furniture, about 50,000 items in the library’s collection must be moved and stored prior to construction beginning on September 4, 2018. The renovation is estimated to be complete in spring 2019.
As a reminder, during the entire renovation the St. Simons Island Library will be fully operational. At any time, patrons may check the status of their library account and renew items online. Preschool Storytime, Baby Storytime, and Lunchtime Yoga will be held offsite in the Recreation Center at Howard Coffin Park. All book clubs will meet at the St. Simons Island Library. Please visit the Marshes of Glynn Libraries website for a complete listing of programs and events at www.moglibraries.org.A temporary computer lab with printing capabilities will be set up for public use at the Boys & Girls Club at McIntyre Court on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 AM to 12 PM from September 11, 2018 through November 15, 2018. Computers are also available at the St. Simons Island Library for public use, and the library offers free Wi-Fi access for personal devices as well.
On August 22, 2018 the Marshes of Glynn Libraries will commence a giving campaign, Turning the Page. Donations will allow the library to acquire needed additional literacy, educational, and technological assets. If you are interested in donating, please contact Geri Mullis, the Marshes of Glynn Libraries Director, at 912-279-3734 or email@example.com, for more details.
